Stages of a Painting

Here’s one of my first paintings of the new year. I’ve photographed it as I’ve been painting so I can show you the process so far.

I often start with a simple automatic drawing, which I use as a base to start my painting/collage. Then I choose a line or a shape to begin.I build from there, but don’t necessarily like what I see straight away, it just feels good.I often collage with paper that I’ve prepared previously.I always try and think of new ways to express myself or emphasise a part of the painting in a certain way and I try different ways of applying the paint as you can see in this section here. This is where I’ve got so far but things may well change! 🙂

New Painting

I have been relaxing into doing some new paintings recently, being lead by my own inspirations, applying paint to the canvas and seeing what happens next.

This painting is not finished so I’ll just show you sections 🙂  As you can see there is collage and drawing involved as well. Those of you who were following my still life progress, don’t worry, it is still on the easel! 🙂

Another update of my painting, it’s getting quite exciting now! painting-4I’m just going out to do some more 🙂
