I had a fantastic day on a sculpture workshop at the Sainsbury Centre in Norwich yesterday with artist Desmond Brett. I learnt a variety of techniques that are accessible to me in my own art practice.Negative and positive casting, which included how to correctly mix the plaster. And some sculpture with found objects, Modroc and plaster. this was not using a preconceived idea we were to be led by the materials available. This was as far as I got in the time provided. I am very pleased with it.
I also did some plastering of myself! I had such a good day and learned loads 🙂
I’ve been making my main piece for Turn The Page artists book fair and I’m very excited about it. It is based on my last paintingNow you’ll have to either come to Turn The Page at the Forum in Norwich or wait till I blog about it! 🙂
Had a super morning in Norwich joining in Makers Month which is on for the whole of February which has different crafts to try during the month. I went today because my friend Kally was there with her freestyle crochet. Here are a few photos from the event. The Idea for her stand was for people to make a piece of crochet for the totem pole in the pictures. Here’s me concentrating very hard on my piece! I was rather pleased with it in the end. Here’s me with super clever Kally… and here’s my piece attached to the totem! 🙂
Kally also makes amazing chunky crochet hooks from found pieces of wood. Here’s a link to the crochet event and here’s a link to Kally’s Facebook page Woolenwood 🙂
I’m super pleased with my display in the Norwich Gift Emporium which I set up yesterday. I’m really happy to take advantage of this opportunity in the run up to Christmas. It’s in a prime position in the city, so lots of opportunity for me to spend money too! I’ll let you know how I get on 🙂
