As well as some of my cushions, Trudy at Home & Garden in Fakenham, has taken a pair of chairs that I have reclaimed and up-cycled to sell in her shop. I’m super excited to be working with Trudy. If you are in the area, go and take a look at her lovely shop and see some of my work at the same time.
One of the challeges me and Mr O have done is to see how many ways we could use chairs as a subject for our art. One of our friends had some chairs standing outside their house, they had stopped there on their way to the recycling centre. They had stopped their so long they had started growing fungus!. When our friends heard about our project they were glad for us to come and load them into our car.
This is one of the better examples of the four chairs!
Then I had to decide what I was going to do with them. I decided to use the two least decaying chairs to re-design and return into useable pieces again. So sanding them down and taking the fabric off the seat was the first step.
Then was the best part, coming up with the idea of what to do and starting the project. After securing the chairs into the desired shape. I started painting. Then upholstered them with my own hand printed fabric.
Here they are! They’ve had many admirers but not purchasers as yet. Why not go to Mr O’s website to see what ideas he came up with.
